H1N1 Influenza Advice Update, 9 February 2010

H1N1 (swine flu) and seasonal flu are clearly evident in the Tasmanian community and are making their way through Tasmanian schools. It appears that the distinctions between H1N1 and seasonal flu are no longer being made and that all cases are likely to be treated as simply "the flu". We remind parents that students with flu-like symptoms are required to stay at home, returning to school when the symptoms have cleared.
It is important to be vigilant about hygiene during this flu season to reduce the risk of infection. Read the latest update

PAD Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Madeline Reid, Year 10 Rivers, who has won the prestigious PAD (Academic Exchange Service) academic scholarship to go to Germany.
Madeline was one of eleven applicants in Tasmania who had to write an introduction of themselves in German and do an interview in both German and English.
The scholarship is a fully funded scholarship. Madeline will spend four weeks in Germany in July this year. She will travel for two weeks with scholarship winners from all over the world and visit a number of cities in Germany.
The other two weeks will be spent with a host family and Madeline will have the opportunity to get to know German family life and the German culture. Well done, Madeline.
